First THE Revelation, then the Resolutions

Happy New Year my friends!

I wanted you to know that I stopped making New Year’s resolutions about 10 years ago.  Partly because by late February I had achieved the failure of self-effort and partly because I was just trying to survive my life, not enrich it.  I thought, “Seriously, what is the point?”

This thought effervesces in my spirit.  If you want true and lasting change you must have revelation.  You must live your life in response to Me, not Me in response to you.

Is there a difference between asking God to follow my dreams vs. following Him as He leads me to the dreams He has put in my heart, or is it just semantics?  I believe there is a glaring difference defined simply by the humble posture of revelation and the heart of relationship with Him.  As you follow Him, your trust of Him grows and you start to see that He really means it when He says He will never leave you.  He really means it when He says He will never forsake you.  He really means it when He says that His ways are not your ways and He really means it when He says that with Him all things are possible.  As you follow Him, you start living the Word, not just memorizing it!  As you follow Him, you get the amazing revelation of Him, not what He can just do for you, you get Him.  Then, you start to see that the greatest dream of all really is Him and the dreams that you thought were so important before pale in comparison…

I believe that God plants dreams in our hearts like seeds.  Those seeds sprout and grow and point us to Him.  Like a weed, self-effort is choked out with the revelation of Jesus Christ.  Luke 7 gives a great look at this principle.  Jesus compares the failure of self-effort with the blessedness of responding to Him.  He tells it in a beautiful story of the heart of the sinful woman versus the Pharisee.  Her revelation of His forgiveness fueled her love and service to Jesus.  The Pharisee’s lack of revelation caused him to rely on his own sense of rightness, not righteousness…there is a difference.

Father in the name of Jesus, the name above all names, I humble myself before you and bow my knee to you and you alone.  I ask you for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that I may know you better.  I ask you for a personal revelation of what you have forgiven me of and just how much you love me.  Help me understand who you want to be for me.  Help me want you more than anything else.  I cry out today for a revelation of life as your child and all of the benefits that come with that.  Thank you in advance for 2014.  All that comes with it I dedicate to You, before it even shows itself I praise you for it because I know that I am yours.  In Jesus Name, Amen!

He is the Well my friends, let’s partake of Him together!!

Love,

Mel
